Android 1.0 SDK download available for developers free

The Android platform is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. Developers can create applications for the platform using the Android SDK.

Applications are written using the Java programming language and run on Dalvik, a custom virtual machine designed for embedded use, which runs on top of a Linux kernel.

The main objective of the release of this new development environment is to try to provide a stable platform for developers, which will see the beginning of the Android Market on October 22 2008.

Major improvements to the package, compared to version 0.9, are related some bugs resolved and inclusion of some API. Going on the Android developer's blog, you can already see some applications ready for commercialization, such as Panoramio and Photostream.

Panoramio is software that displays web galleries, using the principle of geo, namely: choosing a specific area from a map, can view the best photos in a gallery, using the GPS with the broadband connection.

Photostream is a "photo browser" and viewer for Flickr, which allows, in addition to traditional navigation of photos on Flickr, to import new images as wallpaper for your phone, the same manipulation of images and the ability to create direct links on the desktop image ever loaded on Flickr. free XpGnome- Convert Linux desktop looks like Windows XP

XPGnome is a Linux theme pack that brings visual aspect of Windows XP to the Gnome desktop. This script adds custom icons, Wallpaper, logon screen, colors and other tweaks to makes Linux desktop just looks like Windows XP.
